Sharing & public collections

How can buyers make an offer or contact me?

In Settings, find How buyers can reach you. Add up to 3 contact methods, enter each phone number with country code, handle, email address or account link, then choose Save contact methods. Other accepts a custom label and link; Discord requires a discord.com/users account link. You can edit or remove methods and save again, including removing all of them. The same methods apply to your whole collection. Visitors to a featured watch page see Contact Me with your links directly. Contact Me also appears on your public profile for visitors when you have contact methods set. WhatsApp and SMS prefill the watch and inventory number; email prefills a watch subject. Other services open your account so the buyer can write a message. Your signed-in owner view has management controls instead. No methods means no Contact Me section. Unfeaturing or deleting the watch or account removes contacts from public view. WRIS has no inbox, offer tracking, payments or escrow; conversations and money stay off-site.

How do I share a watch?

Open a watch and feature it, then choose Share. Feature and share does both in one step. Supported mobile browsers open the native share sheet. On desktop, WRIS copies the link and offers Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Email, and Copy link. Only featured watches can be shared.

What can people see on my public profile and watch pages?

Visitors see only featured watches: photos, brand, model, reference, year, public notes, listing details, and the Cost / asking price. Your purchase price and private notes never appear. Clicking a watch card opens its own public page; use your browser Back button to return to the profile. You can also open cards in a new tab.

Will shared links keep working if I edit a watch?

Brand and model edits do not break links. Renumbering redirects old inventory numbers to the current link. Inventory numbers are never reused. Unfeaturing or deleting a watch removes its public photos and shows a friendly no-longer-on-display page. WRIS cannot erase copies already cached by Facebook or other external services.

Account & getting started

How do I get started?

Choose Create account, enter your details, and follow the email confirmation link. After signing in with an empty collection, choose Bring your collection to import a spreadsheet, or add a watch manually. You can read this FAQ without an account.

I forgot my password or can’t sign in. What should I do?

Choose Forgot password? on the Sign in page to request a password reset email. Follow the link in that email to set a new password.

Can I change the email address on my account?

The Email field in Settings is disabled, so you cannot change it in the app. Contact the developer if you need help changing it.

How do I delete my account?

In Settings, choose Delete account, confirm that you understand deletion is irreversible, then type your current username exactly. This permanently removes your account, watches, photos, and saved conversations. Shared links will say the user is no longer on WRIS. If cleanup is interrupted, retry to finish; your public pages stay hidden.

Dashboard

What can I do on the dashboard?

Browse your collection, search for watches, filter by watch details, and sort by Recently added or estimated value. The dashboard also summarizes your collection and shows featured watches. Open a watch card to see its details.

What do Repair & Sell, Do Not Touch, and Practice mean?

These are collection labels under Recommended action: Repair & Sell is for watches you plan to repair and sell; Do Not Touch is for pieces you want to leave as they are; Practice is for watches you use to learn repair skills. You can change the label when editing a watch, and use the sidebar filters to browse each group.

Add Watch & AI analysis

How do inventory numbers work?

Every watch gets a number unique to your account, starting at 001. You can enter your own number or edit it later. Imports recognize Inventory # and inventory_number columns; blank numbers are assigned automatically. Duplicate numbers are rejected without changing existing watches. Numbers remain reserved while a watch is in Recently Deleted. You can see inventory numbers on collection cards and watch details.

Can I add a watch manually?

Yes. In Add Watch, enter a watch name, brand, or model to enable saving, then fill in the details you know. Photos and AI analysis are optional for a manual entry. You can also start with a photo and use Analyze with WRIS to suggest details.

Analyze with WRIS gave me an error. What should I do?

Attach a clear dial photo first; Analyze with WRIS is disabled until a photo is attached. If you reach an analysis limit, wait for the retry time shown on the button. For other errors, check your connection and retry later. You can still enter details and save manually.

I filled in the details but the watch won’t save. What should I check?

A manual entry needs a watch name, brand, or model, or at least one photo, to enable saving. A photo is not required when an identifying field is filled in. Read the error shown on the page and check your connection and sign-in session. If the service appears unavailable, check status.supabase.com and retry later.

The AI identified my watch incorrectly. How do I fix it?

Correct the fields before saving, or open the saved watch and choose Edit. AI fills empty fields and offers suggestions for fields you have already filled in; you choose whether to accept those suggestions. Check reference numbers against the case-back engraving when available.

How accurate is the estimated value?

Treat it as a starting estimate, not an appraisal. Before selling, compare recently sold listings for the exact reference and a similar condition, rather than relying on asking prices.

Photos

What photo types and sizes can I upload?

Add Watch supports up to six photos and lists JPG, PNG, and HEIC. Each file must be 5 MB or smaller. If an upload fails, try a smaller JPG or PNG and check your connection. A clear dial photo helps AI identification; extra angles can show the case and condition.

Managing your collection

How do I edit or delete a watch?

Open a watch’s detail page and choose Edit to update it. To remove it, choose Delete and confirm. Deletion hides the watch from your collection and public profile; it does not immediately erase the stored record or its photos. There is currently no restore control in the app.

How do I take a watch off my public profile without deleting it?

Use the heart control labeled Remove from featured on its dashboard card, detail page, or Featured watches page. You can also choose Edit and turn off Show on my public profile. The watch stays in your private collection.

Public profile

What happens if my account is suspended?

A suspended account cannot sign in, and its public profile and watch links show that the user is no longer on WRIS. Contact WRIS support. If an administrator restores your account, sign-in and public pages return.

Who can see my watches, and what do visitors see?

Only watches marked Show on my public profile appear on your public profile, excluding drafts and deleted watches. Visitors can see their photos, basic watch details, Public notes, optional Display cost, and filled-in Listing details. Private notes, purchase price, and internal estimated values are not shown. Review public fields before sharing.

What do I see as the owner compared with a visitor?

Your signed-in dashboard and watch detail pages include your private collection information and editing controls. The public profile shows the same limited public view to you and to visitors. In Settings, use View public profile to check how it looks and manage your username, avatar, and bio.

Can I list a watch for sale on WRIS?

WRIS does not process sales or payments. You can showcase a watch on your public profile and fill in its public Listing details. Arrange buyer contact and complete any sale outside WRIS.

Import

Does WRIS learn my column mappings?

WRIS learns your column mappings when you correct a suggested field. Learned matches are private to your account and take priority over Known built-in aliases and Guessed matches. Enum fields are checked against up to 20 non-empty sample values; incompatible columns go to Notes. Unmapped columns default to Skip. Use Reset column learning in Import settings to forget your corrections. Caliber values go to Notes; Serial Number mappings are preserved as labeled private notes.

How do I import a collection?

Open Import and choose a CSV or XLSX spreadsheet with headers in its first row. WRIS guesses the columns; check the mapping and keep extra columns in Notes or skip them. Preview ten rows at a time, correct invalid values, and choose which duplicates to skip or import anyway. Confirm once to import all selected rows, even those on other preview pages. No photos are required. The results show assigned inventory numbers and links to add photos later.

What are the import limits?

Every account has the same limits: 500 watches per spreadsheet import, 1,000 photos per import, and 10 imports per day per user. The day resets at midnight UTC. Split larger spreadsheets or photo groups into separate imports. A spreadsheet and its follow-up photos share one import; a standalone photo import starts when you confirm an upload or ask for AI suggestions. Failed spreadsheet inserts do not consume an import, but starting a photo import does. Cap errors name the limit and do not silently drop extra watches or photos. These limits do not cap your total collection size. Existing photo requirements still apply: six photos per watch and 5 MB per photo.

Can AI help match photos that do not match a filename?

Choose Suggest unmatched photos with AI to send unmatched JPG, PNG or WebP photos up to 1 MB and candidate watch details for suggestions. Review every suggested assignment before uploading. Larger files, HEIC, uncertain results and photos remaining after the import’s vision allowance is reached stay in manual review. You can always choose a watch manually. AI matching is optional; importing watches and filename matching do not require AI calls.

Can I match several photos to my watches at once?

Yes. In Import, choose Match photos to watches, or use it after a spreadsheet import. Name photos with the inventory number, such as 001.jpg, 001-front.jpg or 001_back.png. Leading zeros and letter case must match. Review each assignment; ambiguous or unmatched filenames need a manual watch choice. Leave a photo unassigned to skip it. Confirm Upload to save the assigned photos. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC are supported up to 5 MB each, with room for six photos per watch including existing photos. HEIC previews may be unavailable. New photos are appended after existing photos. If a photo fails, keep the page open and retry; successful photos stay saved. No AI analysis runs during photo matching.

What does the import error preview mean?

The Check your import dialog lists spreadsheet, mapping, or row issues before anything is imported. Go to a row to correct its values or skip it. Each WRIS field can have only one source column. Duplicate inventory numbers must be changed or left blank for automatic numbering; Import anyway only overrides a Brand + Model + Reference match, never inventory uniqueness. Blank or malformed headers and unclosed CSV quotes must be corrected in the file.

Can I export my collection?

There is no collection export function yet. The Import page currently handles spreadsheet imports only.

Watch Repair Assistant

How do I upload and reuse repair sources?

Open My Source Library from Settings or the Watch Repair Assistant. Upload a PDF, JPG/PNG, TXT, or MD file up to 10 MB once, then use Manage watch associations to select multiple watches. In a watch’s User Uploaded Sources section, Upload New Source adds a library document and associates it with that watch; Associate Existing Source reuses a document without uploading it again. Documents are private to your account. New uploads are prepared for assistant search automatically. Use Prepare for assistant on older documents. TXT, Markdown, and text-based PDFs are searchable; images and scanned PDFs need OCR first. Preparation failures stay visible and can be retried.

How does the assistant use repair sources?

The assistant searches for relevant excerpts in prepared personal sources associated with the current watch and matching global repair documents. Answers include source labels and PDF page numbers when available. Only a few relevant excerpts are supplied, not entire documents. Keyword search can miss paraphrases; when there is no matching evidence, the assistant uses general knowledge and should say when it is uncertain. Unsupported, oversized, or unreadable documents are not searched. Removing an association stops future retrieval for that watch; previous saved answers remain in chat history.

How many repair sources can I keep?

Each watch can have 10 associated personal sources. Your library can store 50 unique documents, including documents with no watches. One document used by three watches counts once toward the library limit and once toward each watch’s limit. The upload and association controls show both counts.

What happens when I unassociate a source or delete a watch?

Only that watch’s associations are removed. The document remains in My Source Library, even if no watches use it, and other watches keep their references. Manage watch associations in My Source Library to change several watches at once.

How do I permanently delete a personal source?

In My Source Library, choose Delete beside the document. The confirmation tells you how many watches will lose the reference. Confirming removes those associations and permanently deletes the stored file and document. If cleanup fails, the document stays marked for deletion so you can retry. Unassociate instead if you want to keep the file.

Can I rename repair chats?

Use the edit icon beside a chat in Previous Repair Chats or beside its open title. Enter, the checkmark, or leaving the input saves; Escape cancels. Names can be up to 60 characters.

Should I use a separate chat for each repair?

We recommend a separate chat for each repair so every job is easy to find and resume. Use + New Chat when you want a fresh discussion; this is optional.

What can the Watch Repair Assistant help with?

Open a watch you own and choose Watch Repair Assistant. Chat about its saved record, private notes and past AI analyses, or ask general horology questions. The assistant can help reason through symptoms and suggest parts details and direct search links for Esslinger, Cousins UK and eBay using the known watch reference or part number, while explaining uncertainty and how to verify fitment. Video requests and repair how-to answers also include targeted YouTube search links, rather than unverified links to specific videos. If the videos do not help, tell the assistant where you are stuck so it can clarify the obstacle and suggest a more useful next step. HTTP and HTTPS links in assistant replies are clickable and open in a new tab. It cannot browse live listings or check current stock and prices, and this text-only chat does not inspect photos. Use New Chat to start fresh or select a previous chat in the sidebar to continue. Conversations are private to the watch owner.
